Bensley Park consists of 13 acres. Includes a gazebo and playground, youth baseball/softball fields and
a football field, tennis courts and restrooms.  Park Superintendent - 271-7554.

From Richmond:  Take Jefferson Davis Hwy. South .9 miles South of Chippenham Pkwy. Interchange to Swineford Road. Turn right onto Swineford Road (at Wilson Trucking) & proceed .3 miles to Drewrys Bluff Road.  Bear to the left and the entrance to the park will be immediately on your left.

From Petersburg: Take Jefferson Davis North 2.2 miles north of Willis Road (Bellwood Drive) to Swineford Road.  Turn left onto Swineford and proceed .3 miles to Drewrys Bluff Road. Bear to the left and the entrance to the park will be immediately on your left.

Eppington- Circa 1765-1775
14201 Epps Fall Road

Named after the Eppes family, who were major landowners in the area as early as the mid-1600s. Francis Eppes VI built the plantation and Thomas Jefferson, his brother-in-law, was a frequent visitor. The 44 acres contain a cemetery with markers dating to the 1800s. Eppington Plantation house and grounds are open to the public on the first Saturday in October for Colonial Heritage Day Festival and year-round for small group tours by appointment only.

Ettrick Park consists of 24 acres designed to serve the athletic needs of the community. Includes a picnic shelter, play equipment, restrooms and a community building.  Facility reservation information.

From Richmond: Take I-95 South to Colonial Heights (Exit 54,Temple Avenue). After exiting I-95, turn left at stoplight onto Temple Avenue. At second stoplight, turn left onto Route 301 (the Boulevard). Proceed to the fourth stoplight. Turn right onto Dupuy Avenue. Follow Dupuy Avenue to Dupuy Road which will be on the right (Dupuy Road veers to the right at the Liberty gas station). Take Dupuy Road to Laurel Road. Turn left on Laurel Road. The Park and Community Center is located on the right (across from the Amtrak Railroad Station).

From Chester: Take Iron Bridge Road West to Lewis Road (Shoosmith) and turn left onto Lewis Road. At the stop sign take a right onto Bradley Bridge Road, follow to stop sign (corner store on right with Citgo gas station). Take a left onto Woodpecker Road and continue until you get to a stop sign (old red church, now a clothing cottage, is on right). Turn left, staying on Woodpecker Road, follow around a sharp curve. Just up ahead, Woodpecker Road will veer off to the right. Stay on Woodpecker Road until you see Dupuy Road on left. Take a left on Dupuy Road then a right onto Laurel Road. The Park and Community Center is located on the right (across from the Amtrak Railroad Station).

From Petersburg: Take the Boulevard (Route301) North to Dupuy Road. Turn left onto Dupuy Road. Follow Dupuy Avenue to Dupuy Road, which will be on the right. (Dupuy Road veers to the right at the Liberty gas station). Take Dupuy to Laurel Road. Turn left onto Laurel Road. The Ettrick Park/Ettrick Community Center is located on the right (across from Amtrak).

Fernbrook Park is a four acre neighborhood park. Includes a picnic shelter and tennis court. Fishing is available from a small fishing pond.


Fort Stevens Historical Park
8920 Pams Avenue

Fort Stevens is a Civil War park. Its two-acre site was part of the inter-defense line built in 1862 on the south side of Richmond. Includes picnic areas and a trail along the earthworks.

Goyne Park
5300 Ecoff Road

Located in Chester, this 33-acre site offers fields for football, soccer and baseball. Much of the site remains undeveloped, offering an opportunity to walk through fields and woods and to explore a small stream that borders the park. Includes tennis courts, a picnic shelter, play equipment and restrooms.   One Shelter in Park located behind children’s playground.  Parking area beside shelter.   Water at concession stand (must be prearranged with Coordinator).  Park Superintendent - 717-6157.

Harrowgate Park

Harrowgate Park is a 29-acre site that includes tennis courts and fields for football, youth league baseball and softball. Harry G. Daniel Park at Iron Bridge
6600 White Pine Road

Located on Route 10 across from the Chesterfield County Airport, this park is the county's largest with 365 acres that features baseball, softball, soccer and football fields, basketball, tennis and handball/ racquetball courts, picnic shelters, trails, fitness equipment, and playground. No Electricity. No water at shelters. We are sorry for your inconvenience as from Labor Day until October 15th Harry G. From Petersburg: Take I-95 North to the 288 north Exit 62, to Route 10 West. Proceed West on Route10 to the 1st stoplight. Turn right onto Whitepine Road.  Park entrance is on your right.


Henricus Historical Park and Dutch Gap Conservation Area
251 Henricus Park Road

The 1611 Citie of Henricus, located in the 32-acre Henricus Historical Park, is the site of the second permanent English settlement in the new world. The Citie, which is being reconstructed, permits visitors to travel back 400 years to witness the life and hardships of those first settlers. Visit the small, timber-framed buildings (made of wattle and daub) that served as homes to the settlers. Witness history come alive as costumed interpreters tend garden, cook, practice domestic and carpentry crafts, play early 17th-century music and protect this important wilderness outpost of English life in the New World.

The Citie, Visitors Center and Museum Store (featuring historic reproduction items) will reopen March 1 and will be open 10 a.m. - 5 p.m., Wednesdays through Sundays. The park is part of the 842-acre Dutch Gap Conservation Area, which offers many other educational and recreational activities. Henricus Park is in partnership with Henricus Foundation and the counties of Henrico and Chesterfield, with assistance from the City of Richmond. Fees fro entry into historical areas.

During the fall, the Citie holds its annual Publick Day where visitors can experience life as it was nearly four centuries ago. For more information, call the Henricus Foundation, (804)706-1340.

The Dutch Gap Conservation Area surrounds Henricus and provides 810 acres of diverse woods, wetlands and wildlife.  Bordered by the James River, the area includes a blue heron rookery in the marsh.

Huguenot Park

Huguenot Park is a 56-acre park that is generally flat and heavily wooded with pine and hardwood, providing excellent cover for songbirds and other small animals. Park includes an azalea garden, fitness trail, picnic shelters, play equipment, restrooms, tennis and basketball courts, fields for soccer and football. Matoaca Park

This 73-acre park consists of tennis courts, baseball, softball and football fields and a lighted basketball court. Additional facilities include play equipment and restrooms. About one-third of the park is pine and hardwood forest, providing good cover for small animals and birds and an opportunity to explore the park's natural aspects. No Shelter at this park. Park Superintendent - 530-2549. 

From Richmond:  Take 95-South to Colonial Heights (Exit 4, Temple Ave.)  After exit, go through the toll, then left at the stoplight onto Temple Ave.  Take Temple to route 301; turning left at the stoplight.   Proceed to the 4th stoplight, Dupuy Road.  Turn right onto Dupuy and proceed .4 miles to where River Road forks off to the left.  Proceed west on River Road for 3.5 miles to Halloway Ave.  Turn right onto Halloway Ave. (1) Matoaca Middle School will be on your left 1 mile from River Road.  (2) Matoaca Park will be on your left 1.4 miles from River Road.  (3) Matoaca High School will be on your right 1.7 miles from River Road.

From Petersburg:  Take the Boulevard (301) North to Dupuy Road.  Turn left onto Dupuy Road.  Proceed .4 miles to where River Road forks off to the left.   Proceed West on River Road for 3.5 miles to Halloway Ave.  Turn right onto Halloway Ave.


R. Garland Dodd Park at Point of Rocks
201 Enon Church Road

R. Garland Dodd Park at Point of Rocks is a 188-acre park that features a diverse natural area and a rich history. Athletic facilities and picnic areas are concentrated in the upper areas of the park. Access to the lower level is provided by a system of trails, which includes a boardwalk through a freshwater tidal marsh. Also includes picnic shelters, play equipment, tennis and basketball courts and fields for football, soccer and baseball. Park Superintendent -  530-2459.  For shelter reservations: 751-4696. From Petersburg: Take I-95-North to exit 58 Ruffin Mill Road/VA-746  towards Woods Edge Road. Turn right onto Ruffin Mill/VA-746 Road then turn left to stay on Ruffin Mill Road/VA-746. Proceed 1.6 miles to the park on right.


Robious Landing Park

This 60-acre park is located adjacent to James River High School.   The park, which will eventually feature a boat slide for small car-top-sized crafts such as canoes and jon boats, provides access to the James River.  It also offers citizens picnic areas, a volleyball court, self-guided trails and fishing. Park Superintendent, 323-1700. From Richmond: Take Chippenham Parkway (150) east to the Route 60 West Midlothian Turnpike Exit. Proceed West on Midlothian Turnpike 4.3 miles to Robious Road and turn right on Robious Road. Proceed West on Robious Road 5.2 miles to James River Road and follow signs for Bettie Woodson Weaver Elementary School and James River High School. Then turn right on James River Road and proceed .5 miles, passing both school entrances. Shelter is located on the left towards the James River.

From the Huguenot Bridge: Take Huguenot Road 4.7 miles South to the intersection with Robious Road. Turn right on Robious Road and continue 3 miles to James River Road and signs for Bettie Woodson Weaver Elementary School and James River High School. Then turn right on James River Road and proceed .5 miles, passing both school entrances. Shelter is located on the left towards the James River.


Rockwood Park
3401 Courthouse Road

The county's oldest and most popular park, this 163-acre site features a complex of ball fields and tennis courts, a nature center, an archery range, Ruff House Dog Park, garden plots and a system of nature trails. Also includes picnic shelters, play equipment and restrooms.  No Electricity. Park Superintendent 276-6661. Shelter reservations : 751-4696 (download Shelter Reservation Form)

From Petersburg:  Take I-95 North to Route 288 exit 62.  Proceed North on 288 to Courthouse Road Exit.  At stoplight, turn right, continue until you come to the 1st light, your will bear right at this light.   Continue until you cross over Hull Street Road (Route 360).  Park entrance on right.
