Matoaca District Community Connections News

Marleen K. Durfee, Chesterfield County Board of Supervisors

Matoaca News

This fall, citizens have had opportunities to attend the second set of "Bringing it to the People" town hall meetings. The first four meetings wee held on Sept. 29, Oct. 13 and Oct. 20, with another meeting planned for Oct. 27. The meetings provide an open forum and information on voting-precinct changes for the November elections.

The Upper Swift Creek Plan was the first of county area plans recommended by Supervisor Durfee to incorporate new planning strategies and amendments for better land use. The amendments include levels of service for schools, roads and public safety, provide economic development opportunities through mixed-use communities, create a purchase-of-development-rights program, affordable housing and protection of the environment.

As part of the county’s streetlight program, a roadside private light in the vicinity of 20406 Church Road was approved.

The first round of parking and road improvements has been completed for Matoaca Park, along with new football bleachers. Also, security lights will be installed this fall. Baseball and football fields at Spring Run Athletic Complex have been completed. New roads and parking lots for the soccer fields at Lake Chesdin Park and Clover Hill Athletic Complex are under way.

A project to replace the bridge over Otterdale Creek, on Otterdale Road, is expected to be under construction next spring.

Construction will be completed this fall on a project to improve the curve on Qualla Road at Belcherwood Road, north of Spring Run Road, and there will be upcoming transportation meetings about Woolridge Road, including the causeway.
